If you are using Windows 95 as an Operating System, please
read on...
Due to bugs in the original
Windows 95 Operating System release, a conflict with our software
and the Windows 95 Operating System using 32 bit disk access has
been detected. If you are using Windows 95 and 32 bit disk
access, please follow these steps to determine if your computer
has this bug.
- From the desktop, click on "Start"
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on "Control Panel"
- Double Click on the "System" icon
- The "System Properties" dialogue box will appear. Near the top
of the dialogue box your is a heading called system. Directly
underneath is your system version number. If that number is 4.00.950,
you will need to update your operating system with the Microsoft
Service Pack 1 before running your Artes Latinae software. Do
not install the Microsoft Service Pack 1 if your system
version is reported as 4.00.950A or 4.00.950B.
Please read ALL the instructions BEFORE you download the Microsoft
Service Pack 1.
To install the Microsoft Service Pack 1, follow these instructions:
- Print these instructions before continuing.
- Create a temporary folder on your hard disk.
To create a temporary folder:
Double-click on "My Computer".
Double-click on the drive letter you wish to create the folder in.
Click on "File"
Click on "New >"
Click on "Folder"
Type "Windows Service Pack"
Click once on the new folder.
- Download the "Microsoft Service Pack 1". This is available
at a link at the bottom of the page.
- Save the file to your new folder.
- Quit any applications that are currently running.
- If you use Microsoft Plus! System Agent, right click the System
Agent icon on the toolbar, and then click Suspend System Agent.
- In that folder, double-click Setup.exe, and then follow the
instructions on your screen.
- When the Setup.exe program finishes, your version of Windows
95 will be updated to version 4.00.950a.
Notes
1.Do not click Cancel during Setup. Doing so might cause Setup
to fail. This may be true even though a message is displayed stating
that your system was updated successfully.
2.If you cancel Setup by mistake, run Setup again. If you are asked
"Do you want to overwrite the file?" choose "Yes To All".
Do not install Service Pack 1 over Windows 95 OSR 2 or higher.
Do not install the Service Pack 1 Update English version on
the English Pan European version of Windows 95 or any other non-English
version of Windows 95.
